More like "Putin’s plan": Congressional representatives criticized Trump’s new "peace plan".

Senator Mitch McConnell, former Republican leader in the Senate, has the impression that Trump's entourage is more focused on appeasing dictator Putin than on ensuring lasting peace.

Putin spent a whole year trying to make President Trump look foolish.

A karma. Iranian authorities are discussing the possibility of importing water as well as borrowing desalination technologies. But because of sanctions and hostile relations with many of its neighbours, the country can count on only very limited international assistance.

What breaks me is that the cowardly West still refuses to give us long-range weapons because they’re afraid of escalation. What bloody escalation are they even talking about, when the Rashists are already striking with missiles and three-ton bombs on civilian apartment buildings? The Russo-fascists are already using everything they have – from chemical weapons to massive air-dropped bombs – and they don’t give a damn about anyone. They haven’t even been kicked out of the UN, and the US has even reassured the bastard that they’ll drop all charges against him for every crime against humanity. (Alex Surov)

It's a pity that America didn't have Trump in 1941. He would have negotiated with Hitler, because, you see, people are dying. If such a plan is signed, the war will be left to my children, that's all. (Sergey from Kharkiv)

One president got a Peace Prize in 2009, but his softness only gave aggressors free rein. Another may get one in 2026 “for peace for the sake of peace”. Maybe the next logical step is a Peace Prize “for swift annexation” – since that way “the war is shorter”, right?

I don’t understand how anyone can seriously discuss a “plan” written by one of Trump’s business partners. It’s a real-estate deal – a cynical scheme to enrich the Trump family at the cost of selling off Ukraine.

How can we even talk about Ukraine being required to dismantle fortifications that are literally protecting Europe?! The only reason you’re sitting here calmly and celebrating your holidays is that Ukraine is spilling blood every minute. If not for Ukraine, Russian tanks would already be in Poland. Truth or myth? It’s the 21st century. The president’s best friend is simply the person he feels most comfortable playing golf with. Another country has attacked its neighbour because it decided to restore borders from the 20th century. Meanwhile, the Big Union has been chewing popcorn for almost four years and doing very little, even though a country right in front of them is being destroyed wherever the attackers can reach. No way – that can’t be real!”

More than 25,000 people from abroad have already been recruited by Russia for its war against Ukraine – including over 12,000 from North Korea, 2,700 from Uzbekistan, 1,599 from Tajikistan, 1,300 from Belarus, 1,190 from Kazakhstan, about 1,028 from Cuba, 1,000 from Nepal, more than 700 from Sri Lanka, 687 from Kyrgyzstan, 291 from Egypt, and many more from over a hundred other countries.

…and apparently you’re now searching not only for “red lines” but also for “red underwear”. Expedition of the century.

... that’s how he sees the world. And he’s a vain, cynical fool who wants to achieve his own goals – for example, to pass himself off as a peacemaker – at the expense of a victim of aggression who happens to depend on him. And that hope that the KGB will somehow counterbalance China is a sign of deep idiocy in anyone who counts on such a thing. When the Soviet Union was butting heads with China over who was the “truer communist”, that sort of logic worked. Now it absolutely doesn’t.

The path to a peace agreement may require painful concessions from Ukraine,” said Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul.

— So they’re offering us peace through pain? Is there any logic in this filth’s position? “Peace through pain” isn’t peace at all – it’s coercion, which means capitulation.

Your Excellency, Mr. President,

We watched your conversation with President Zelenskyy with horror and disgust. It is insulting that you expect Ukraine to express gratitude for the material assistance provided by the United States in its fight against Russia.

Gratitude should be directed to the heroic Ukrainian soldiers who for more than eleven years have been shedding their blood while defending the values of the free world and their homeland attacked by Putin’s Russia.

How can the leader of a country symbolizing the free world fail to acknowledge this?

The atmosphere in the Oval Office during your meeting reminded us of interrogations by security services and communist courts. Back then, prosecutors told us that they had all the power and we had none. They deprived us of freedom for refusing to cooperate or for refusing to express gratitude for oppression. We are shocked that President Zelenskyy was treated in a similar way.

History shows that when the United States distances itself from democratic values and its European allies, it ultimately exposes itself to danger. Wilson understood this in 1917, when the U.S. entered the First World War. Roosevelt understood it after Pearl Harbor in 1941, realizing that defending America required fighting both in the Pacific and in Europe. Without President Reagan and the financial support of the United States, the collapse of the Soviet empire would not have been possible. Reagan called the USSR an “evil empire” and confronted it decisively. We prevailed, and today his statue stands in Warsaw opposite the U.S. Embassy.

Mr. President, military and financial assistance cannot be equated with the blood shed for Ukraine’s independence and for the freedom of Europe and the entire world. Human life is priceless. Gratitude for those who sacrifice their blood and freedom is obvious to us, former political prisoners of the communist regime in Soviet Russia.

We call on the United States to honor the Budapest Memorandum of 1994, which established direct obligations to protect Ukraine’s borders in exchange for its renunciation of nuclear weapons. These guarantees are unconditional – there is no mention anywhere that such assistance should be treated as a mere economic transaction.

Sincerely,

An open letter from Lech Wałęsa and a group of former dissidents to the President of the United States (March 2025)

What would have happened next? In Lebanon, Russia would have helped Hezbollah, and Hezbollah would have taken power in Beirut. In other words, Lebanon would have become a Hezbollah-run state. After that, a sort of axis would have formed: Beirut – where Hezbollah ruled; Damascus – under Bashar al-Assad; and Tehran – ruled by the Ayatollahs. And imagine how this axis would have loomed over the entire Middle East. There would have been a real threat to, say, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states. Those are the ones who would have suffered the most. (David Kon)

136 countries offered help to the USA back then in 2001, after 9/11. I don’t recall anyone ever asking to return money. As of today, no one has received anything in return – and no one asked. Ukraine is fighting for survival against a barbaric neighbour that treacherously attacked to destroy Ukraine. For almost 4 years now they have been fighting alone, like a shield for all of Europe. The U.S. and their president use their methods to force Ukrainians to sign business deals about minerals! USA after Biden stopped helping Ukraine, they only sell weapons ... This will go into history textbooks, because the United States turned away from their friends and partners at the moment when it was their turn to prove honor and loyalty to democracy and truth! It’s disgusting!!! And now the U.S. is forcing Ukraine to give its sovereign territories to the invader. Shame for centuries... History will not forget or forgive this! (Storm Balderson)

These four years are only the first four years of a much larger war – a war in which Russia will use every means available to assert its geopolitical relevance through armed conflict. And if the Russian economy does not collapse, such wars – not only against Ukraine but possibly against your own country as well – may last not four years, but forty-four. We simply have to accept that the world, as a norm, has disappeared from the Eurasian continent. (Vitalii Portnykov)
