Anne McCaffrey – American science fiction and fantasy author, the first woman to win both the Hugo and Nebula awards for prose. Best known for her Dragonriders of Pern series, she blended science fiction with dragon mythology. A trailblazer for women in speculative fiction, she showed that epic stories could be lyrical as well as widely popular.
