Diana Wynne Jones – British novelist of the late 20th and early 21st century, author of Howl’s Moving Castle and The Dark Lord of Derkholm. Known as the “queen of modern children’s fantasy,” she combined humour, irony, and magical adventures. Educated at Cambridge, where she attended lectures by Tolkien and C. S. Lewis, she went on to inspire generations of fantasy readers and writers.

📚 Howl’s Moving Castle inspired Hayao Miyazaki’s acclaimed anime film. 💬 Loved to play with fantasy clichés, turning them upside down. 🖋 Often wrote about ordinary children drawn into magical worlds. 🎓 Attended Tolkien’s and Lewis’s lectures at Cambridge. 🌍 Her books have been translated into dozens of languages. 📖 Created the Chrestomanci series and many stand-alone novels. 🖼 Famous for mixing humour, absurdity, and deeper themes. 🏆 Recipient of the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award and other honours. 📦 Her stories appealed to both children and adults with layered meanings. 👩‍👦 Her children were her first test-readers and critics. 🙂 Funny note: once said she started inventing stories simply because there weren’t enough books at home when she was a child.
