Kahlil Gibran (1883–1931) was a Lebanese-American poet, novelist, and artist, best known for the global bestseller The Prophet and The Madman. His work blends Eastern wisdom with Western modernism. Called “the voice of 20th-century spiritual poetry,” his writings explore love, freedom, and the meaning of existence.
✨ His book The Prophet (1923) has been translated into over 100 languages and remains a classic. 🎨 He was also a painter, exhibiting artworks in New York and Paris. 🌍 Born in Lebanon to a Maronite family, but spent most of his life in the US. 📚 His style combined biblical cadence with poetic prose. 💡 A member of the “Mahjar” group of Arab émigré writers in America. 🎤 His works have been quoted at weddings, funerals, and political speeches. 🖋 Wrote in both English and Arabic. 💔 Died at 48 from cirrhosis and tuberculosis. 😅 Funny fact: joked he was “born with a brush and a pen in his hands.” 🤔 Curious note: in the US, publishers once dismissed him as “too strange,” until The Prophet became a global bestseller.
