Ken Kesey

Wikipedia

Ken Kesey – 20th-century American writer, author of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Sometimes a Great Notion. His work blended counterculture, Beat aesthetics, and rebellion against authority. He took part in LSD experiments, founded the “Merry Pranksters,” and shaped the hippie movement.

📚 One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest became a cult classic, later adapted by Milos Forman. 🧪 Kesey volunteered in CIA-sponsored LSD experiments. 🚌 With the Merry Pranksters he toured America in a brightly painted bus. 🎨 These road trips symbolised the psychedelic 1960s. 📰 He befriended Beat poets, including Allen Ginsberg. 🎭 His novels explore personal freedom and clashes with authority. 🎬 The film Cuckoo’s Nest won five major Academy Awards. 📖 After the 1970s he published little, focusing instead on performances. 🌲 He lived in Oregon, farming corn and leading a rural life. 😲 Curious: while evading the police, he faked his own death in Mexico. 😂 Funny: his bus was called “Further,” and friends joked it broke down more often than it moved.
