Thomas Paine

Wikipedia

Thomas Paine – Anglo-American thinker of the 18th century, author of Common Sense and The Rights of Man, a fiery voice of revolution. Born in 1737 in England, he worked humble jobs before Franklin urged him to sail to America. There he wrote words sharper than swords, igniting rebellion with pamphlets that ordinary people could grasp. He became known as “the conscience of the revolution.”

🔥 Common Sense sold in the hundreds of thousands – a bestseller of its age. 🗽 He explained democracy in language craftsmen and farmers understood. 🇫🇷 Supported the French Revolution and was jailed in Paris. ✍️ In The Age of Reason he attacked dogma, defending free thought. 🌍 Read widely across America and Europe, a true citizen of the world. 💔 Died in poverty, though his words outlived empires. 😅 Funny note: people joked Paine could “spark an uprising with nothing more than a shopping list.”
